Details:
Teeside consists of 3 beaches which are frequented by kitesurfers:
Majuba is a popular beach for landboarders and is best in northerly wind directions where the wind blows mostly onshore. It has a very large car park nearby with refreshments.
Paddies Hole is on the southern side of the river Tees, and gives shallow, protected conditions for when the wind is coming from the west. There is a shipwreck which needs to be avoided which needs to be observed at low tide, and there are power cables downwind which must be avoided at all costs! Besides that it gives great shallow water conditions in all but the most extreme of tides.
On the north side of the river is the Chemworks, which has a reasonable amount of parking, a shallow shelving beach which is usable at most states of tide, and even a high tide lagoon when the tides are in excess of 5m.
The chemworks is also well known for having strong sea breezes in May, June and July usually peaking at about 5pm on otherwise calm, hot summer days.
